Travel to Pakistan

You'll be travelling to Lahore Airport (LHE), ask your hotel if they can provide transfer services this may be done for free.

Weather and Packing

The weather forecast for early October is around 35°C high to 22°C low.

When packing, consider bringing:

  • Light, breathable clothing suitable for warm weather
  • A light jacket or shawl for cooler evenings
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection

I'd highly suggest bringing your own sunscreen in your checked luggage, otherwise you may lose it at security in your transit airport. It is sold in Pakistan, but it is harder to find.

Mobile Data & Roaming

Roaming in Pakistan is expensive. Ensure that you have roaming turned off before you arrive.

You can purchase e-sims for your phone from sites like https://maya.net/esim/pakistan that you can add to your phone and when present in Pakistan it will be used for things like data when you're out of the hotel and out of range of wifi.

Money in Pakistan

Pakistan is a cash country. The currency is Rupees but when searching for currency conversion you should use the currency code PKR (Pakistan Rupees) so google doesn't confuse it with INR (Indian Rupees). Many of the vendors you may encounter may only accept cash and will not be able to process cards. For this reason we recommend you either convert currency into PKR before travelling or after you get there.

Inside Hotels and large shopping centres, your cards will be valid and work. It's possible there might be some issues as some terminals are unable to accept western cards.

Pakistan has a much lower cost of living compared to western countries, to give you an idea of the scale of prices in Pakistan:

  • A bottle of fizzy drink, I.E Fanta (500ML) - 100 PKR ~ £0.28 GBP
  • A 30 minute taxi journey, 500-1000 PKR ~ £1.5 - £3
  • A big mac - 700PKR - £1.99 (Yes, it is more than your long taxi Journey)

Travel Arrangements in Pakistan

We do not recommend anyone trying to use Public Transport infrastructure, it will be far easier and still cheap to get a taxi everywhere you need to be. You can use ride hailing apps InDrive and Careem to organise this.

On the wedding days we will be organising transport for everyone starting from Four Points by Sheraton Lahore. You will need to organise your own travel from your hotel to Sheraton if you are not staying there.
